I echo your sentiments that supporting locally owned businesses is something that resonates with people from every part of the spectrum.   I would add that the success of these businesses could be viewed as a collective action problem/solution.

The more we, the customers, collectively choose to shop locally, the healthier those local businesses will become.  Furthermore, the more we collectively support these businesses, the easier it will be for them to address and improve their position in the Convenience, Budget, Community aspects that make up our individual purchasing decisions.</description>
